A punishing 998 miles

n June 2008, Toby Phipps, accompanied by two friends Jamie Baker and Mark Smithies, plus a number of ‘part-timers’, cycled 998 miles from Lands End to John O’Groats to raise funds for the Pepper Foundation. At the end of his epic journey, Toby and his colleagues raised a total of £000 which is a great achievement.

“It was great to fulfil a personal ambition while raising money for Pepper”, said Toby. “We were extremely lucky with the weather and Britain is still an amazingly rural and scenic country. The hardest parts were undoubtedly Devon and Cornwall plus the west of Scotland – continuous hills!”

Toby would like to thank his father Robert Phipps and Phil Morgan for providing the necessary vehicle support along the route making life that much easier for the riders, by ensuring they were fed and watered, provided with spare clothing, tools and organising overnight accommodation.
