Pepper shop to close
IRHH have announced that it plans to close its Pepper shop in Amersham at the end of October when its current lease expires. The proposed rent increase on renewal would mean that the shop could not trade profitably.
Robert Breakwell, Appeals & Communications Director for the charity, said, “We are grateful to our landlord for supporting us over the years by allowing us to occupy the shop at a very reasonable rent, and appreciate that commercial rents have increased significantly in Amersham. Our trustees had to make this very difficult decision after appropriate discussions with the landlord.
As our nurses continue to care for a significant number of patients in the Amersham area, we are keen to have a retail presence in the town and will be looking to open a new shop if suitable premises at an affordable rent can be found. Unfortunately the role of Shop Manager at Amersham will have to be made redundant.”
IRHH and Pepper wish to acknowledge the support of everyone who has been involved with running the Iain Rennie/Pepper shop in Amersham for their hard work and commitment. Thanks to them and all of the customers and those who donated goods to be sold, the shop has made a very worthwhile contribution towards funding nursing care for patients and families in the area since it opened in late 2003.23rd July 2009 Recent News |
