Bad weather cannot deter determined Maxwell!
Young Maxwell Power and his dad had registered to complete the 5 mile Fun Run on Sunday 4th March as part of Berkhamsted Half Marathon and were very sad to learn that the snow and stormy winds caused it to be cancelled, especially when they woke up on Sunday and all the snow appeared to have cleared. It was to be Maxwells first proper run and he had trained hard and was very excited at the prospect of taking part.
Not to be deterred by the threat of more snow, the plucky duo decided to do their own run along the canal in Apsley and Kings Langley. Maxwell had already raised some money that he wanted to collect for Children's Hospice at Home Nurses, and he would have felt very bad not running and doing something to earn the donations.
Maxwell, aged 11, is in year 7 at Ashlyns and is a very keen runner. He had been training hard and he and his dad Matthew ran 8.19km in total, which took 1:00:10.
Congratulations Maxwell and Matthew for putting on your running shoes and venturing out to run for Pepper. Many people would have stayed tucked up in the warm. Maxwell has raised £75 in the process and we look forward to seeing him at next year's Berkhamsted Fun Run when hopefully the sun will be shining!
