Songs for Pepper – what’s it all about?

For over thirty years the Pepper Foundation has been synonymous with music. The roots of the Pepper Foundation were formed from the very first Pepper Show in 1989. Except 2020, The Pepper Show has been entertaining audiences ever since (a week of shows every year for 34 years!) which put our little charity firmly on the local musical map.

After 34 years of entertaining you, we thought it would be a great time to find out what musical inspiration is happening out there with you all!

Songs for Pepper is a new way to fundraise for the Pepper Foundation. Music touches everyone’s life, it’s a universal language, capable of expressing feelings and thoughts that words alone often struggle to convey. Whether it’s a lullaby to calm a restless infant, the invigorating rhythm of a workout playlist, or the nostalgic tunes that transport individuals back to cherished memories, music is part of our existence.

Beyond entertainment, music brings people together (in the case of the Pepper Show, for over 4 decades!), fostering a sense of community and shared experiences. In essence, music is an ever-present companion, shaping our moods, igniting our passions, and enriching our lives in ways both subtle and profound.

Raise money for the Pepper Foundation by putting on your own music-themed event. You don’t have to be a musician to put on a Songs for Pepper event; this event is for anyone who loves music! This could be a karaoke night at your local community centre, or living room gig at home, or carol singing along your street – absolutely anything musical goes!

Putting on your Songs for Pepper event

Whether you want to hold a Karaoke night, a big performance, a jam session or anything else your heart desires, we would LOVE for you to get involved and put on your own musical experience for the world to hear!

You set your own fundraising goal, but if you raise over £300 we’ll send you a fancy Pepper Foundation Bluetooth speaker as a thank you!

Songs for Pepper can be a small event at home…

Sing, play or perform your way to raise funds for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families!

The Pepper Foundation works with Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care to fund their children’s hospice care department which provides specialised nursing care, play specialists and bereavement support to children with life-limiting and terminal illnesses and their families. It is vital that we raise enough funds each year to keep this service going and we can only do that with your help.

How to take part

There are a few simple steps to setting up your own Songs for Pepper event:

  • Choose your fundraising idea & date – this can be as big as a whole music event or as little as having some friends over for Karaoke. You could even choose to just make some music magic on social media! Check out our Fundraising Ideas within this pack, but are always welcome to come up with your own ideas.
  • Register your fundraising page at https://pepper.enthuse.com/cf/songs-for-pepper
  • Invite your friends, family, colleagues or whoever you want to join you or sponsor you to your fundraising page and get raising the roof!(Let us know if you are planning a big event (80+ people) and we will supply you with fundraising equipment (like buckets, banners & even someone to do a talk on Pepper!)
  • When your event has finished, let us know by emailing knicolas@pepper.org.uk. If you have cash from your event, please email us and we can arrange collection from you.

…or a bangin’ night out with friends!
